from $16.00 USD

The Blanca Flight Suit is a semi-fitted, highly customizable boiler suit pattern inspired by vintage workwear. With multiple sleeve and leg options, it can be made in a variety of fabrics and can easily be styled up or down.

Blanca features a center front zipper, patch pockets that double as belt loops, an optional tie belt or buckled belt, a traditional shirt collar and a unique pleated back design. Customize your flight suit by adding a long sleeve, tapered sleeve with a snap button, or short sleeve. The leg is cut straight, with the option to crop it or taper at the hem with a leg tab. In addition, choose between a classic breast patch pocket or zippered pocket for added detail

Sews up a dream

I made no alterations and it was such a joy to sew. I did make one mistake, the zip I had was just a bit short (my fault for not reading the notions section!) it did make it a bit of a struggled to get off, but this was the toile so no worries. Next make will be a heavier cotton drill, ready for winter.

Wonderful pattern

This jumpsuit is an awesome retro style with modern thorough directions. It’s fun to sew, has wonderful little details and the end result is so cool and comfy! Love it!

Fantastic pattern!

I love this pattern! I was a little nervous about starting it, but it was much more straight forward than i thought, and the instructions are very detailed if you get stuck. I am 5'3" b36/w28/h38 and I made a straight size 8, and raised the waist seam by 2" with no other changes, I was very impressed with the fit! I absolutely will be sewing this pattern again 💛

The Blanco - sheer joy!

It was sheer joy to sew this beauty together. The instructions were so well drafted and the final product turned out perfectly. I get so many comments when I wear it! It does take a bit of time to put it altogether but the detail and professional finish are so worth it!

Im already planning the next one.... or maybe five!!!!

I love this suit!

I have so far made two versions of the Blanca flight suit: the first in a navy linen with short sleeves and pant legs, which is great for the hot and humid summers we've been having and a long version in a dark grey heavy cotton twill for autumn/winter. I loved making them as much as I do wearing them! I bought the size 14-30 as it has bust shaping, and used size 14.
The instructions are clear and well written, the pattern is well thought out, everything fits and it came together easily. I am tall, with long arms and legs and did a few adjustments: a round back adjustment, which I hid into the back pleat in the linen version, but made a dart between the back neck and the pleat in the twill version as the fabric is stiffer and heavier. I lengthened the sleeves as my arms are freakishly long and in hindsight might have lengthened the pant legs as well by a few centimeters. I lined the front pockets of the linen version with a very light cotton fabric, but did not line the twill pockets as that would have made them too heavy. I chose to do a bias tape finish instead. I took 1-2 centimeters of room out of the back at the waistline and added about a cm at the hip. In a next version I would probably add a little bit of extra length to the back, but otherwise I'm very happy with my suits!

Great pattern, very well written, for modern-shaped people

I measured myself before choosing a size and came out as an exact 14. I automatically added length to the arms and legs as I'm so used to doing this with other patterns but when I made the garment I ended up chopping it off again. Great instructions. Didn't need to look at the sewalong videos or anything like that. LOVE the finished jumpsuit. Very happy customer!
