Part of our Rome Collection, the Pietra Pants & Shorts are the best of both worlds; a flat front, high-waisted silhouette with the comfort of an elastic waist in the back. Featuring lengthening panels in the front with slanted hip pockets and a hidden waist stay, you’ll never want to take them off.

Choose between four leg styles: a wide leg in floor-skimming or cropped length (View A), a slim and tapered leg (View B), or gently flared shorts (View C).

Can't wait to make it again!

As an enthusiastic beginner, I bit more than I could chew with this pattern. But I will definitely come back to it once I'm more experienced!

review from australia

one of the best patterns I have ever used, super simple and easily understandable instructions, ive made two shorts and 3/4 pants and love them all. Will be buying other closet core patterns

So Much Fun!

I bought the Pietra pattern to make a pair of blue linen shorts. I was initially drawn to the pattern after reading so many positive reviews. I can certainly say the praise for this pattern is well-deserved. The design is clean and the slanted pockets make it interesting. It was a dream to put together -- the instructions were very clear and helpful. This is the second pattern I've bought from Closet Core Patterns and I think the quality and clarity of their instructions is something they do exceptionally well (especially considering I've been sewing for less than a year). I already have plans to make another pair of linen shorts and a pair of tapered trousers in a tencel twill!

Beginner-friendly

I loved sewing this pattern! These shorts were the first pair I ever made. I only started sewing two months ago, but this pattern is really easy-to-follow. It was easy to print and make the pattern. The instructions for sewing the pants were really clear as well. I'm definitely going to make a linnen pair next!

Love my new lounge pants

Don't ask me why, but when the pattern arrived I said to myself, "those would make a great pair of lounge pants." So I made them in flannel, and they are great lounge pants! I liked them so much I made them as a Christmas gift for a friend. I should note that flannel really stretches out with wear, so next time I'll probably make them a size smaller. There will definitely be a next time.

As many have noted, the methods and instructions are impeccable and well-written. I've been sewing for decades and pattern instructions are all over the board on quality, so I tend to ignore them and do what I think is fastest/easiest. When I came upon an instruction to baste a section, I did what I always do. I nailed that thing down with pins and clips and skipped the basting. Because basting takes too much time. What actually takes too much time is ripping out a seam, then basting it, because pins just don't do what basting can do! Note to self: follow Closet Core instructions exactly, because they are spot on.
