Loved it!

I had previous sewing experience, but wanted to hone my skills. This was perfect. I learned some more tips and techniques. I enjoyed listening to the teacher. Note: this is not a sew-along. There are video lessons to get you ready and then for each of the patterns there are short video clips for the difficult parts.

Perfect class for beginners!

When I took this course I was very new to sewing. By the end of it, I was making skirts, dresses, tops and pants for myself and friends. The videos are so well made and the instructor is clear and easy to follow even though English is not my first language. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn the basics of sewing garments and build their confidence in a fun and enjoyable way. Thanks a lot closet core patterns.

great online course

Really great online course. Heather is so funny, the course is full of tips but also feels relatable to someone who has stumbled through a few garments but really is a beginner garment sewer. I can see myself going back and watching again and again.

Great resource!

I'm an absolute beginner and I am really excited to get started on this course. I've just started and so far it's been excellent with clear, detailed instructions. I can't wait to finish my first pattern.

Wow! Do yourself a favor and take this course

I was hesitant to dive in to a new hobby, worried I'd do that thing where you spend a lot of money to get set up and then quickly lose interest. But I kept coming back to the idea of finally learning how to really sew properly, so I decided to sign up for this course as a way to commit. Oh boy, what a wonderful choice!! Not only are the lessons taught here super clear and easy to follow, but the philosophy of it all really made me love completing this course. The course covers really high end finishing techniques, proper fitting, how to select fabrics and set up your workspace for success -- but what drew me in most of all was how it frames the idea that making yourself really well crafted garments is a sort of an act of self love. I'm fully hooked. I keep going back to the videos as a resource, it is so helpful. I 100% recommend this course to anyone looking to really learn the craft of sewing.

Great course, excellent patterns!

I took the How to sew clothing course as my 2021 spring break/pandemic staycation activity based on an ad I saw on fb. I started sewing apparel the previous summer but felt like I would benefit from guided instruction. The instructional videos have been so useful (and fun!) and I learned things like don’t watch the needle, watch the seam allowance guide and how to better cut from pattern pieces from fabric. And the idea of a wearable muslin and clever ways to make bias tape, plus ideas for useful supplies. The included patterns were a real bonus! I now have sewing machine and serger covers and a top, skirt, and as of this weekend my best yet, the Pietra shorts. All patterns extremely well written and tested, with videos for support. The sizing works for me and I think I read that there will be even more inclusive sizing options in the future. I am eager to check out other Closet core courses or patterns, how about one on how to sew knits? Thank you for helping me advance my sewing skills!
